Terroir

## Floods, wind and *a lot of patience*.

Ice-age floods left gravel and cobbles along the creeks; centuries of wind piled fine silt across the hills. Our blocks sit on both, which is why a single vintage can taste so different from one row to the next.

## Meet the blocks

Where every bottle begins.

- Mill Creek Bench: Cobblestone soils and old Syrah vines. Savory, dark, a little wild.
- Basalt Terrace: Cabernet Sauvignon on thin soils over fractured basalt. Structured and long.
- Wheatfall: Grenache and Mourvèdre on deep loess beside the wheat fields. Bright and spicy.
- Foothill Block: Our highest site, facing the Blue Mountains. Cool nights, fresh acidity.

Farming

## Every vine, by hand

We prune, shoot-thin and pick by hand, and we cover-crop between rows to keep the soil alive. Water is precious in the valley, so we irrigate sparingly and let the vines dig deep.

Landscape

## Wheat country, wine country

Our neighbours grow wheat, peas and sweet onions, and the rolling hills around the vineyards still turn gold every July. It is a farming valley first, and we like it that way.
