# Our Story

> A small family winery farming four blocks by hand in the Walla Walla Valley.

## Our Story

A fictional family, a very real valley.

Since 2011

## It started with *one block of Syrah* and a lot of optimism.

Long before wine, this corner of southeast Washington grew wheat, sweet onions and orchards. Vineyards came later, drawn by long summer days, cold winter nights and soils built from ancient floods and windblown silt.

We planted our first vines on a cobbled bench above Mill Creek and made a few barrels in a borrowed garage. Fifteen vintages on, we still make wine the same way: small lots, by hand, one block at a time.

Harvest

## Every pick is a judgment call

Harvest in the valley usually runs from early September into late October. We taste through every block each morning, and when a row is ready the crew is out at first light, picking into small bins so the fruit arrives at the cellar whole and cool.

The cellar

## Small lots, long patience

Each block is fermented on its own, so we can taste exactly what that site gave us that year. The reds rest in French oak in our downtown cellar, and we blend only after we have lived with every barrel for a while.

## The people behind the bottles

Small team, many hats.

### Maren Holt, Founder & Winemaker

Planted the first Syrah block and still punches down every fermenter herself.

### Teo Vasquez, Vineyard Manager

Knows every row by name and every frost by date.

### Junie Calder, Tasting Room Lead

Will find the bottle you did not know you were looking for.
